There are 3 tasks to complete today on Day 1 of the 10 Days of Wellness. Each one takes about 10 minutes so they can either be carried out at different times throughout the day or back to back in a 30 minute window, whatever works best for your schedule.

Task 1.
Make a cup of herbal tea. Something decaffeinated, and if you don’t have that a cup of hot water will do. Leave your phone by the kettle and take some time to just sit and enjoy your drink without any distractions. No phone, no music, no book, no TV.
When you are undistracted like this your brain can undergo it’s processing jobs. You might find your thoughts settle quite easily, or you may feel like you are thinking a lot with your thoughts running away with you. Either is fine. You don’t need to try and calm your thoughts or manipulate them in any way, just observe them as your brain organises things where they need to be.
It’ll take about 10 minutes to complete your drink, so if you find just sitting with your thoughts difficult, know it isn’t going to last forever. When you are finished take a moment to assess how that task felt for you. Was it easy to sit there undistracted or did you find this more difficult than you expected? Let me know how you got on.
If you are short of time today you may wish to combine task 1 with task 2. See below.

Task 2.
Take a minimum of 10 minutes outside walking. Walk in the park or round the block or to the shop. Just get outside.
If you need to you could take your herbal tea with you as you walk, remembering to keep your phone at home if it is safe to do so, or certainly in your pocket out of reach so you take a full 10 minutes without it.
Just try and enjoy being outside in the winter air. Maybe it is raining where you are, so hopefully there is some sun. Either way just feel how being outside feels in your body.
