Hello! I’m Sophie, I am 39 and I started my happy life project in 2017 to focus on making my life more adventurous, more creative, full of love, light and happiness. Over the last 20 years I have been on a long and complicated road to recovery after significant life events led me to try and take my own life.
Recovery for me has involved keeping physically active and over the last few years I have been fortunate enough to take part in some really exciting fundraising events for charity. These have included:
- Running the London Marathon: 2012
- Reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro: 2014
- Cycling, hiking and kayaking Scotland Coast-to-Coast: 2016
However, despite these incredible events I must constantly work on my mental health through exercise, self-care, reflection and therapy. Despite knowing that exercise really helps me to feel better; sometimes getting out of bed and getting through daily life is the biggest achievement I make.
my happy life project gives me a place to write about my experience, to talk about mental health, to grow and to keep myself accountable.
I hope you enjoy reading about my journey; my happy life project.
