On Saturday I went to wheel therapy and Yin classes to focus on my back as planned. They were both glorious.
I’ve clearly got a lot of work to do with my backbends as I have some serious tightness in my mid to upper spine. But, with each wheel class it opens up more. Yin had a lot of back and hip work which felt great to work on.the two classes really compliment each other so it’s ace that I can do both on the same day.
I didn’t get round to running again, and I am getting deep into a running avoidance pattern that I need to get a handle of before it becomes too hard to get back to it. A couple of weeks ago I was running 3 times a week, finding it easy, increasing my pace and actually looking forward to each run. It’s the process of not going for a while that makes me anxious about going and then I avoid it. The simplest fix to that is to keep going consistently.
It was lovely to have a restful Saturday with not much to do and lots of time for relaxing and reflection.
I’ve made a plan for next week that will hopefully get running back on the agenda, plenty of yoga and an effort to go to bed and wake up at a consistent time. Ideally earlier so I can accommodate all my activities.
I have 10 days left of this 66 day challenge. By the end of Saturday I had completed yoga classes 18 & 19 of 30 and I have 8 days left before I head to my yoga retreat. I’m amazed that I am still keeping at it, but I think the biggest realisation is even if I don’t have the desire or energy for a Bikram class or to go running, that that shouldn’t need to mean that I do nothing. The Yin and wheel classes are gentle and restorative and perfectly compliment the yang activities. It’s all about balance.
