On Monday I reached the 2/3 point of my 66 day challenge. In 44 days I have completed a yoga class, been running, and/or done sun salutations at home, on all but 3 days.
I’ve now been intermittent fasting for a week and I’ve also not been drinking in the week. Although my weight has not changed I do feel like my body is changing so I expect that the scales will start reflecting this soon.
On Monday morning Giles and I went for a walk first thing, and in the evening I did a 75 minute Bikram class.
As the class was busy I ended up in the front row. I felt quite self conscious being close to the mirror and having so many people behind me. Over the first few years of practicing Bikram yoga I got strong, flexible and confident in my practice, slowly moving from being hidden away in the back row, to the middle and eventually into the front row. By then I was practicing 4 to 5 times a week and running regularly.
I have gained weight since my practice became a little less intense, and when I got put onto a mood stabiliser for a year I gained 2 stone as they really damage your metabolism.
These days, over 9 years after I first started Bikram yoga I am happy to be in class when I can be, preferably in the middle row. This challenge is helping me to get regular practice back in my life. I’m on a journey and there are good days and bad days, the key is to not let the bad days throw me off, and to not to fixate on the good days too much either and instead try to just accept things for how they are right now.
Yin and yang.
