At some point I’ll tell you all about my trip to Montenegro which was fab. But first I just want to say what a terrific day it has been today.
I didn’t feel so well yesterday so I didn’t exercise at all, but today I forced myself to go for a run first thing. As you’ll know mornings are my least favourite! I started off slow but when I completed my first kilometre I checked my watch and I had done it in 6.05 which is pretty quick for me. I maintained the pace for the 2nd Km and had a slower third one, then picked up the pace for the last two and completed the 5Kms in 29.57.
I was so happy and soooo sweaty!!
I hate mornings, I really hate exercising in the mornings – particularly running, I’ve only run once in 3 weeks and that was just 2.8Kms, so to have had such a great run this morning was amazing. In the last kilometre I felt like my lungs could burst, but I fought to get a sub-30 time and am thrilled that I did.
I got a lot of work admin done today which felt good, a cleanse of sorts. Getting lots of stuff done that just needs doing and that I could put off for ever always feels like an achievement. So, yay!
Then after work I got to the gym and did a weights session focussing on legs and glutes. It’s been months since I did weight training and I know that this is something that has a really positive impact on my physique and mental health.
I struggle with confidence in the gym, particularly when it is busy and tonight it was rammed! So I didn’t hang about, just got my workout done in about 45 minutes and left. I am glad I went and did the session, but I may try and move the weight training to off-peak times just while I try and get back in the swing of it, as I don’t want a lack of confidence to put me off going at all.
Finally I went to a 60 minute yoga class. It was hot and tough but after training my legs I hope the stretching will reduce the muscle soreness over the next few days!
Anyway all in all a great day. To top it all off I have lost 7 pounds now doing the 5:2 diet so I feel lighter, fitter and much more positive.
Hoping for a great July!
Very well done Dotie on every level xxxx
