Over the last 7 days we have completed a number of reflection activities which contribute to an overall activity called VITAL Signs. I completed this activity about 18 months ago during a transformative time of my life when I was feeling like I needed a better understanding of who I was.
In our lifetime we go through a number of transformations, stepping out from the person we used to be into a newer, better version – as we let go of everything that no longer serves us. If you look back at your life you will be able to see the events that led to these metamorphoses, and the moments you surrendered to the change and stepped into your higher power.
I found the activity really helpful as I navigated some major life changes, and could see more clearly what I needed to do to make sure I was honouring myself in the moment, and beginning to live more authentically.
VITAL Signs stands for Values, Interests, Temperament, Activities, Life missions and meaningful goals, and Strengths.
So far we have completed the ‘I am’ activity. This tells us who we are at core and is related to our strengths and temperament. Who are we as people, how do we operate what are the positive attributes of our character.
We have also created a list of our Interests based on how we spend our time and money, and for our Life missions and meaningful goals we wrote out all the things we have done in our life that we are proud of, because once we can see what we we are proud achieving we can begin to appreciate that those type of things ideally become the mission for our life.
So we have a little more reflection to do around our strengths and temperament and also need to address what our values are. Then we will evaluate the whole of our VITAL Signs together to get a more holistic understanding of who we are. Because once we know this we utilise it to build direction into our goals and aspirations, and build up our sense of self.
So if you’ve only been dipping in and out these activities over the 10 Days of Wellness, know that they have purpose and try to catch up when you can.
