Happy New Year!
It felt good to wake up without a significant hangover this morning. A good start to the year and how I plan to continue for the foreseeable.
Yesterday I went for a run before the festivities started, and completed 4 miles (6.44Km) in 39:44. It felt alright but when I looked it up when I got home this was a good couple of minute faster than usual as I’d normally run 4 miles in over 41 minutes.
Pretty pleased with that!
Today I have spent time reviewing 2018 and in total I completed 124 yoga classes and ran 397.41 Km. That is a average of 10 yoga classes a month which has been consistent the last few years, but the running feels a bit low as that’s only 7Km a week on average! Lots of weeks with no runs causing that low value. I seriously need to address that in 2019 and I feel one way to do that would be to have more long races planned that I have to train for, rather than the 10Km ones which I can just turn up and do.
That said I feel pleased with that have have completed a second year of earning a medal each month from running a race.
Today we took a long walk along the embankment of the Thames and tomorrow I’ll get back on track with my workouts and eating plan.
Quick resolutions:
- Dry January
- 4 yoga classes a week
- 3 runs a week
- Half marathon each quarter
There are plenty of other things I want to do but will have a little think about how I’m going to make it all achievable before I write it here!
I do love this time of year where I can set new goals and intentions for myself. I know a lot of people think the whole ‘New year, new me’ is stupid, but life is about constantly evolving and learning to be the best version of yourself, so any opportunity to address that works for me.
So, happy New Year, hope you are all feeling positive for a happy and healthy January.
Happy New Year! I think it’s so cool you earned a medal once a month! I would like to do my first 5k this year. I have put it off a few years now because I can’t justify paying for the sign up costs (I’m a stay at home mom with 2 kids). Maybe I can find some low cost or free ones to do instead of the big name ones to get me started. If you had any suggestions, I would appreciate it (though maybe just a Google search for my area?). Thanks in advance. 🙂
