Half way point!!
This 66 day challenge was about trying to get myself into a routine of making time for a little self-care everyday. A run, a yoga class, some cross training or sun salutations.
On day 33 I got up at 6am and went for a run at 06:30 on the treadmill at the gym. This is SO out of character for me. Not drinking the night before left me in a position of having no excuses and so I just got up and did it! I hate morning exercise as I don’t feel alert or like my body can do it, but despite having a slowish start on the treadmill I actually completed 5Km in 30 minutes and 30 seconds!
It felt great.
At this half-way point I have done:
- 11 runs totalling
- 11 yoga classes
- 2 cross-training sessions
- 83 rounds of sun salutations
There has been just one day where I forgot to do anything at all. So it looks as though I am beginning to make this my daily routine, and I have found that getting my exercise done first thing helps to make sure I do it. I’ve enjoyed morning runs, I’ve seen my pace improve, and ran a 10Km PB for the year.
My training is more consistent; a run and a yoga class every 3 days on average and sun salutations on the days I don’t run or go to class. I do feel better in myself, and although I’ve only lost 1lb in those 33 days I think that this is more than about weight.
It’s about getting myself into better habits that become my routine, that prioritise exercise, sleep and self-care over overeating, alcohol, late nights and driving myself into the ground.
Most importantly I feel happier for it.
