I was due to run 7 miles on Wednesday (11.3Km), and I was also going to go to hot flow yoga.
I felt shattered when I woke up, maybe the last few days of activity was taking its toll. My legs were tired and I just felt exhausted all day.
On the plus side I got so much work done I feel really happy about that, and I have booked all the flights I need for the forthcoming weeks for work travel too. I’m really enjoying these rare moments of organisation in my life.
Yoga was booked for 6pm so I planned to run at lunchtime after committing the morning to getting lots of work done. But lunchtime came and went and I didn’t go and as the afternoon progressed I realised that a long run and yoga was going to be too much. So, I decided to do the 7 mile run and hold off on the yoga.
Before dinner I went out for my run but it was just a mess. My legs ached from the get go and I couldn’t find my stride. I ran the first 2.5 Km then hit a hill that I decided to walk up. Then I was just run/walking for the next few kilometres. I knew I wouldn’t be able to run the full 11.3Km by about the 4Km mark, so I persevered for a while but ended up walking up the 4.5 to 5.3 Km section and would have walked the rest but I was too far from home so I jogged up to about 7.2Km then walked the last bit home.
Considering I was meant to run 11.3Km it wasn’t great but I covered 7Km and that is certainly better than nothing even if there was a lot of walking.
After my recent triumph with PBs it is inevitable that I should be having a bit of a set back. I am pleased that I am persevering despite it being difficult as that is half the battle for me.
Today I have woken up exhausted again, I’m clearly not getting enough good quality sleep. I basically woke up this morning hoping for a nap later in the day!
After a little talking to myself I went to the gym for my 40 minute cross training session. I know that I am in need of rest but I also know that a bike session is easy for me and will help my legs to recover from the last few days exercise.
So, I did an easy bike session and I will have a nap today. If I feel good for yoga later I will go and if I don’t I won’t and I won’t feel bad if I don’t go as I have made good progress this week and if I push too hard I run the risk of wiping myself out.
So today is another 2 day on the 5:2 diet. I’m going to eat my most favourite comforting food RATATOUILLE!
It’s really beginning to feel like Autumn which I may have mentioned is my favourite season. There were even leaves on the ground this morning!
