I picked Giles up from the airport tonight. He landed later than scheduled and we didn’t get home till 8. The only remaining yoga class of the day was at 21:15 which is pretty late, but I felt I would be cheating myself if I didn’t go, now that I have a written plan for the week.
A basic mind trick really, but just the process of declaring what I am going to do makes it harder for me to quit. I highly recommend it! I also seem to get deep satisfaction from having a sticker chart! So I am going to write up my plans for the rest of the month and reward myself with stickers accordingly!
So I made it to yoga, it was a quiet class; just 8 of us there, but it was pretty hot. I felt flexible but somewhat lacking strength so I failed on my triangle pose but my standing bow was pretty good.
I realise that balancing stick is my nemesis and they say that it is the posture you avoid that you really need. I need to really make more effort with that one!
During the class the teacher said a great quote by Carl Jung:
‘Those who look outside dream, those who look inside awaken’
I know what I need to do to make my practice better, I now need to translate that change to my mind and body in a sustainable way. I feel like I’ve started this week really strong and I hope that I can continue with it as the busyness of my week unfolds.
