Last night, having flown back from Ireland and getting my run done I went to yoga. It was a late class starting at 21:15.
So far this month I’ve mainly found the yoga classes to be fairly intensive and quite variable with my level of flexibility and strength. However last nights class was something completely different. It was much more focussed on breathing and relaxing and introduced a different type of practice to me. It wasn’t high paced or extreme, just a nice gentle relaxing class that left me feeling calm and content.
Today I woke still full of cold and feeling wretched! Thankfully I could work from home most of the day and decided to leave any exercise until later in the day to try and give myself as much rest time as possible.
The plan had been to do 2 yoga classes today as I approach the end of the 30-day yoga challenge and because I leave for Rome on Sunday. With consideration it seemed like that would be too much and so I just booked in for a 60 minute class at 8pm, and I would run the 1.25 Km to the studio.
The run was surprisingly good considering how laboured my breathing had been all day. I took it slowly and it wasn’t very far, but in light of my cold it just isn’t worth pushing myself too hard.
Yoga was great. A hot 60 minute class and I put myself in the 1st row. I found my half moon and backbends to be really deep and actually most of my practice felt good. I was quite surprised how good it was when I had been feeling so rubbish all day.
In total I’ve now completed 26 yoga classes and 26 runs in 26 days and I have 4 yoga classes and 5 runs left to go for these first 2 challenges of the year.
