Today, Saturday, is day 14 of my running challenge and the 13th day of my hot yoga challenge.
I am out the country for work at the end of the month and as such I need to time my hot yoga challenge so that my last class is on 29th Jan. This means that I have to complete 30 classes in 28 days, and to achieve this I must practice 2 classes on a few days over the month.
This will be a real test of my willpower and mental determination.
As this weekend approached I still hadn’t managed a double class during the week and so I would either need to do one today or tomorrow.
However, as I am also on a running training plan, I need to run 10Km at the weekend too, and I definitely can’t do both on the same day!!
So, today I decided on a short run and 2 hot yoga classes with the intention of running 10Km on Sunday. I woke at 10am and went to a 60 minute hot yoga class at midday. The class was ok, nothing special. I felt a bit fatigued and as I’d only been awake a few hours my body was a bit stiff and unresponsive.
The rest of the day was spent fuelling, recovering and preparing for more. I made it back into the studio for 5pm, which was a toasty 90 minute class. I felt strong and flexible with the warm up class under my belt from earlier in the day.
My only regret was that I didn’t get my run in this morning, or between classes. Avoidance is definitely one of my strengths.
After my second class I had to eat, which meant I didn’t get out for my run till almost 9pm. It was slow as the ground was icy, and it was super cold. But, I made it.
So, I complete today with 14 runs and 14 hot yoga classes completed in 14 days. Tomorrow marks the halfway point and even though it’s been hard, I definitely feel better for it. Physically, mentally and emotionally I feel stronger and my sleep is superb.
I spent my little rest time today making charts for my hot yoga challenge and the race medals every month plan. Yesterday I bought llama stickers (as well as the bag) and the process of sticking them to my chart was super satisfying.
Just as today has been.
That is amazing Dotie, I am so proud of you and am thrilled that your sleep is good too. x
