Yesterday I started the day by walking to the gym and doing a back and arm weights workout. This was only made possible by having a good nights sleep and heading to bed before 11pm on Monday night.
I contemplated running at the gym too but I had to dial in to a conference call and would not have enough time to run and get home for that.
I have booked all my yoga classes for the week but my runs are a bit less set in stone. I think I need to change that.
At the end of the day I went to 60 minute hot Bikram, class 24/30.
I had some realisations:
I am able to sit down a lot more in the first part of awkward, which I think has a lot to do with the hip opening poses from yin.
My back bend technique has improved. I’m no longer crunching down into my lower back. Thanks to wheel conditioning.
My legs are stronger, I’m holding triangle longer and able to stay right up on my toes while sitting down in 2nd part of awkward.
I am now able to get down on both legs for toe stand. On the right leg I can lift up my left hand, although on the left leg, my tighter side, I can’t lift my hand….yet.
My practice is improving. I have lost 5lbs in weight. I definitely feel physically better and its really motivational to notice positive change. FINALLY!
When I got home I spent 20 minutes doing backbends on my wheel, much to the amusement of the cats. Doing these deeper backbends when I was already warmed up from the Bikram class made me feel a lot more supple. It’s definitely something I will try and do more regularly.
