Last Sunday, while the vegetables were roasting, I went and ran 8.05Km from home out over the Thames and back. I ran at 6.25 minutes/Km which is an alright pace for me. That’s 51:36 for the distance. I achieved my 3 yoga and 3 run plan for the week which I am really happy about.
This week just gone I have been so busy that exercise was on the back burner. I was averaging less than 6 hours sleep during the mid portion of last week, and I just can not function like that. It’s funny because I had such crushing insomnia all my life so was used to having naff all sleep. But over the last few years my sleep has been getting infinitely better but I seem to need so much more of it. When I was taking Quetiapine over 2016, my need for sleep got so ridiculous that I could barely wake up before the mid-afternoon. Even though I am not on that medication any longer if I don’t get enough sleep I just feel horrendous, I don’t know if it is some sort of hangover from taking Quetiapine as it is known to affect your metabolism, of just because I got used to having more sleep then so less sleep now feels rubbish. Last week my sleep was just impacted by the late nights and early starts I had for work. It’s all I could do to function at work during the day, exercise just didn’t get a look in.
Today is the first day I have exercised this week. I have made a point of walking everywhere today and I have been to a hot flow class and Yin yoga. I haven’t been to flow for a while and I loved the class and was more able than I think I have been previously; so that was a bonus.
I am completely in love with the Yin classes taught by Marije. She has such an incredible healing energy about her it makes me feel like it was a long time since I was regularly meditating. Another thing I have felt recently that I just haven’t got time for, but then I remember this Zen proverb…..
Tomorrow I have a 10Km race in Wimbledon park. I haven’t turned up for a race on my own for a very long time so I have some anxiety about that, which generally sits around not knowing where to go. It’s also going to be mega cold tomorrow, but hopefully not raining and as it is a 09:30 start I should be home by 11:15 for a quick turn around before Yin at midday.
For the rest of tomorrow I am planning to continue with spring-cleaning the house. One of my friends was doing a clean up and wrote all the jobs they didn’t want to do and picked one at a time out of a hat. I have copied the idea and have begun to get things done! On my list of jobs to do is to clear out toiletries that I seem to have accumulated, but I picked this job out the pot about a week ago and haven’t done it yet.
This week I got an email notifying me that my company is involved in a charitable event for International Women’s Day which involves donating toiletries that will be made into care packages for homeless women. I have a box of hotel miniatures and items I won’t ever use, and I am going to pack it up to take to the office on Monday. Now I need to take the toiletries to the office on Monday I have to do this job tomorrow which is good!
The only other job I really want to do tomorrow is plan my exercise again. Although last week I was tired and working hard I didn’t look at my diary in advance to make an exercise plan that would fit around my week. Maybe if I had I would have had a slightly better week. Who knows. Worth a try though.
