This week I’ve had some fun nights out. My happy life project is so much more than just exercising, and so I booked for me and Giles to see Kitty, Daisy and Lewis on Tuesday night which was superb. We first saw them play at Bestival about 5 years ago and it was great to see them play again. Then on Wednesday night we went to see KISS at the O2. It felt like this would be a once in a lifetime opportunity and it was incredible! So much fun.
I spent some time on Thursday night going through my half-marathon training plan and over the last 3 weeks there have been a few planned runs I didn’t make. So I did some planning and worked out some ways to catch up.
Yesterday I went to the gym to do some interval training. I combined 3 different training sessions together. These were:
- A 30 minute XT session
- 4 x 6 minutes running at a challenging pace, followed by 2 minutes recovery jog
- 8 x running up hill for 20-30 seconds followed by 2 minute recovery walk
What I did was a 15 minute uphill walk (5.0 gradient, 5.2 speed), then I ran at 10.5 kmph pace for 5.5 minutes on the flat, then upped the gradient to 5.0 for 30 seconds. For the 2 minutes recovery I dropped the speed to 5.2, but kept the gradient. I repeated this 4 times. Then I did another 15 minute uphill walk at the same gradient and speed as before, but after 2 minutes I increased the speed to 10.5 to run for 30 seconds, which I did 4 times.
In total I was on the treadmill for an hour and covered 7.44Km.
Today I went to yoga to a 60 minute class. I had wanted to get up for Parkrun but was just too tired. The yoga was fabulous, and with a teacher who hasn’t taught at my studio for years. He used to be one of my favourites so it’s great to have him back. I went to yoga today in a fushcia pink swimming costume, to try and maintain the body confidence I was working on in India, and then posted a picture of it on Instagram this afternoon which I suppose felt quite liberating.
Tomorrow is a long run and yoga day, so and earlyish night for me!
