On Monday I did a 5Km run and a 90 minute yoga session. Tuesday was the horrendous interval training. On Thursday I did a 30minute LISS bike ride. On Saturday, I did a 90 Minute yoga class.
I found yoga quite challenging yesterday; probably due to not going since Monday. Maybe I need to give myself a weekly target of 3 classes or more. It’s so hard with work to get consistent practice, but I should really do some home practice when I can’t get to the studio. I hate the word ‘should’. Let me rephrase: I feel that I would be happier with my practice if it was consistent, so when I am unable to get to the studio I will practice at home, or wherever I happen to be staying.
Today Steve and I are doing another 10 mile run together. That’ll be 3 runs this week which is more than I’ve done consistently for a while! We booked in this race after I failed to do the 8 mile long run planned for last weekend. At least by having another run we could do together I would be more motivated to turn up. My training hasn’t been so bad this week but despite that I feel pretty anxious for the run. I know I can just about get round 10 miles but I’d love to be able to do it comfortably, and a bit faster than the last time.
The last 10 mile we did was a trail run which was really hilly and took 1:54:33. So I really hope to beat that time tomorrow as it’s a flatter road race.
Next weekend we have our first half marathon of the year! My PB for a half was 1:45:22, but that was 9 years ago. The half we are doing is also a trail run so will be another hilly slow one.
I’m aiming to come in under 1:50:00 for this 10 mile today hopefully. There is no chance of the half marathon next week being a decent time, but in September we are due to run Windsor half marathon and I would like to spend the next 4-5 months working on picking up my pace so that I can get a fairly decent half marathon time. Under 2:15:00 would be good.
It’s easy to forget that I’m still carrying an additional 2 and a bit stone from the medication I was taking last year which really makes running a lot harder. Despite all the training I have done so far this year I have not lost a single pound. Next week I should have a reasonably quiet working week, with no travelling so I am going to do the following:
- Have a blood test to check my thyroid function (already have the test form)
- Contact the medical insurance company to obtain approval to see the allergy specialist Dr Borostoff (already have GP referral letter)
- Book in to see the specialist GP who can do a full evaluation of my nutrients and minerals
- Prep food
- Book Profeet appointment
I have previously had some success with my diet when I have followed the Fast Metabolism Diet by Hayley Pomroy. She specialises in a programme of eating that helps to boost metabolic function so I am going to aim to do that also to see if can help trigger some weight loss!
Right…..now for a 10 mile race 😬
So pleased you are getting thyroid checked and also seeing Dr Alan Stewart and the allergy expert. Well done xxxxxx
