The plan for Sunday was a 10Km run so that Steve and I could get our 3rd race of the year completed and win another medal.
For 2017 we are running one race a month and it feels great to be a quarter of the way through.
Usually I go hell for leather in January with my fitness goals but by mid-Feb I’m back to old habits and letting myself down. This promise to do a race each month means that I have to keep the training going.
We were due to race on 11th March but due to sickness it had to put it on hold. So we signed up for a 10Km in Windsor for Sunday, and boy was it windy!
The first lap felt pretty good, and the 1st few Km were done at a decent pace, but I hadn’t done much training and had run 5Km Parkrun the day before and frankly I wasn’t really ready for it. We got round in an hour and 7 minutes. Slower than any other 10Kms this year. On some stretches the oncoming wind was so strong we could barely move forwards!
Nevertheless that’s another medal on the rack.
Steve and I have planned our races for the rest of the year and have actually booked the next two. We have decided to up the ante to a 10 mile and a half marathon as we have been able to turn up and get round a 10Km without too much fuss. The longer races we will definitely have to train for so we are hoping that it will give us the required motivation.
Onwards and upwards.
